Meghan Houser is a New York-based editor with over a decade of publishing experience.

I can help your story reach the world.

I am a reader, cheerleader, and lifelong student of nonfiction narrative. As an acquiring editor at Penguin Random House and Macmillan I worked with authors across memoir, journalism, history, cultural criticism, and popular science. As an independent editor and collaborator I draw on the breadth of my experience with each project, seeking to bring new voices, and books, to readers everywhere.

What does your project need?

  • Developmental Editing

From initial concept to structure, style, and line editing, I can help shape and polish your manuscript.

  • Proposals & Queries

I can help frame, draft, and edit your perfect pitch to agents, publishers and/or media.

  • Collaboration

I’m available as a cowriter or ghostwriter for proposals and manuscripts.

“Meghan Houser, you are a magician with the pen—your intellect and empathy made the rewrites manageable.”

—Michael Tubbs, author of The Deeper the Roots: A Memoir of Hope and Home
